Losing Faceby Ros Jackson1. Still in the alleyway, Spider and Madsen are tooling up, loading guns and checking ammunition.MADSEN : YEAH, THAT'S TWICE OUR USUAL FEE. SHE'S NO DEFENCELESS INNOCENT, THOUGH. SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ARMED RAID. OUR CLIENT'S SON WALKED INTO IT AT THE WRONG TIME, SO PORTER OFFED HIM. 2. Spider looks at Madsen with a glint in his eye. He's a man who relishes his work. SPIDER : REVENGE, EH? I LIKE IT. 3. Jade Goldborough is laid out on a bed in the clinic. She has changed into a loose white shift. In the background there is a mirror and a bedside cabinet. DOCTOR B. : THE SEDATIVE SHOULD BE TAKING EFFECT. 4. Jade is heavy-lidded. The doctor is injecting a pale liquid into her arm. DOCTOR B. : I'M INJECTING YOU NOW. BY THE TIME YOU WAKE UP, YOU'LL BE MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN EVER. 5. Jade is asleep. The doctor has produced another syringe and is taking a blood sample, this time from her other arm. DOCTOR B. : I JUST NEED A SAMPLE OF YOUR BLOOD. 6. A head and shoulders view of Jade, asleep in the clinic. Her face has begun very subtly to distort. Some of her hair is moulting onto the pillow. CAPTION : 2300 HOURS 7.The viewpoint is the same as above, but Jade's face is further distorted with odd swellings. Her hair has fallen out and is lying on the pillow. Patches of darker pigment are creeping across the skin of her face. This is not a black person's colouring, but the slightly more tanned hue of a brunette, such as Dr Brentford. CAPTION : 0100 HOURS 8.Again the same viewpoint. Now the blotches of darker colouring have spread across most of her skin. Her hair is regrowing a tiny bit, but the stubble is brunette instead of strawberry blonde. The swellings have subsided a lot and she has begun to ressemble Dr Brentford. CAPTION : 0500 HOURS 9.Again the same head and shoulders view, but this time the sleeping Jade Goldborough has become the spitting image of Doctor Brentford. The only difference is the hair, which is only a few millimetres long. CAPTION : 0700 HOURS 1.Jade has woken, and is sitting up on the bed and rubbing her eyes. There's a mirror on the wall behind her, which she hasn't noticed yet. On the pillow lies what is left of her old hair. JADE : UGH. 2.Jade is looking at herself in the mirror. She has a horrified expression as she realises that not only has she lost her hair, but she also has the face of someone else. JADE : DOCTOR BRENTFORD! THERE'S BEEN A MISTAKE! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME? 3.Jade is running through the clinic, searching for the doctor. She is in the lab room with the computer, with lots of phials, syringes and other paraphenalia in the background. JADE ( think bubble ) : WHERE IS SHE? 4.Jade is running through a corridor. In her panic she has knocked over a vase and other items. 5.Jade has reached the end of the corridor and is standing before the front door. She is unable and unwilling to go any further. JADE ( think bubble ) : WHAT NOW? I CAN`T GO OUT LIKE THIS. I'LL HAVE TO CALL MY AGENT, CANCEL MY APPEARANCES. 6.Jade is back next to the bed on which she was transformed. She is bending forward to look in the cabinet. It is open, and we can see that it is empty. JADE : WHAT THE ...? WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES? LINK : I'VE BEEN TRICKED. © Ros Jackson |
