Losing Faceby Ros Jackson1.Jade looks puzzled, as the doctor talks down to her. A hint of contempt is creeping into the doctor's expression.JADE : WHOA! IN ENGLISH, PLEASE. JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO. DOCTOR B. : I'LL GIVE YOU AN INJECTION AND A SEDATIVE. YOU'LL SLEEP, THEN WAKE UP TRANSFORMED. IT'S MUCH BETTER THAN GOING UNDER THE KNIFE. 2.Jade has a cautious expression whilst the doctor, with open hands, is trying to reassure her. JADE : I DON'T KNOW. INJECTING A VIRUS SEEMS DANGEROUS. DOCTOR B. : DON'T WORRY, IT`S PERFECTLY BENIGN. IT'S ALREADY BEEN USED ON AT LEAST A MILLION PEOPLE. JADE : BUT WHAT IF PEOPLE DON'T RECOGNISE ME AT ALL? 3.The doctor is showing Jade an image on the computer screen. The screen now shows a picture of Jade, but this time she has a smaller nose and clear skin. DOCTOR B. : WE'LL ONLY BE TWEAKING AND FINE-TUNING, GIVING YOU A SMALLER NOSE, BETTER SKIN. THE REST WILL LOOK THE SAME AS BEFORE. 4.Jade has been won over, and both women appear confident and satisfied. JADE : IS IT REVERSIBLE? DOCTOR B. : OF COURSE. JADE : ALRIGHT, LET'S DO IT. 5.Two men are standing in a darkened alley, possibly at the back of some dodgy club. Madsen is built up and muscular, whilst Spider is thin and wiry. Both are genetically enhanced, giving Madsen iridescent skin like a beetle's. Spider has cat's eyes. Each looks as vicious as the other. MADSEN : I GOT A CALL, SPIDER. THE CLIENT WANTS A KILL. 6.Madsen holds up a picture of a woman on a small hand-held screen. It's Doctor Brentford, but she's in civvies and looks scruffy and yobbish in this image. MADSEN : NAME OF SOPHIE PORTER, ALIAS DR ROWENA BRENTFORD. SPIDER : A WOMAN? © Ros Jackson |
