Anne McCaffrey

Anne McCaffrey was noted for her Pern series of science fantasy books, in which riders formed telepathic bonds with dragons in order to defeat an alien threat. Set on a colony planet that had reverted to an older form of civilisation, the stories had the feel of medieval fantasy with dragons and smaller communities, whilst being based on a science fiction premise.

Anne McCaffrey was an Irish American writer born in America who later moved to Ireland. She was a prolific author, and her books have received a number of literary awards.
